Yogya Driver

Java is one of the biggest islands in Indonesia. The island lies between Sumatra to the west and Bali to the east. Java is divided into four provinces, West Java, Centra Java, East Java and Banten, and also two special regions, Jakarta including the capital city of Indonesia and Yogyakarta.

Although Indonesian, or Bahasa Indonesia, is the official language in Indonesia, there are also many local languages. The dominant local language in Java is Javanese spoken mostly in Central and East Java, but there are also other languages like Sudanese, Betawi or Madurese. For example Javanese people speaking Javanese language don’t understand Sudanese and vice versa. Therefore Indonesian language is commonly used so people from different regions can understand each other. These language differences show us, that (not only) Java represents mix of cultures. The monument consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside a perforated stupa. The word of BOROBUDUR is coming from two words, Biara and Buduwur. Biara means Vihara and Beduwur means on the hill. So Borobudur means is Vihara on the hill.

Borobudur temple is regularly open from 6 AM to 5.30 PM. But the best time to visit the temple is in the early morning that is during sunrise time or you also can visit the temple after sunrise time. If you want to see sunrise, you must enter to the temple via Manohara hotel but if you do not want to see sunrise, people can come at 6 AM. This time Borobudur temple is not crowded and the weather is not hot. Entrance fee for Borobudur temple is USD 20 or IDR 190,000.

To see Jogja’s silver artists in action, visit Kota Gede, about 2 miles southeast of Jalan Malioboro, accessible by bus or becak.

The area’s main street, Jalan Kemasan, is heavily populated with silver workshops turning out fine filigreed silver craft and jewelry. (Look out for their silver-crafted miniatures, like the silver Harley pictured at left.) As with the batik shops, some silver shops allow visitors to look at the silver being crafted by artisans.

While you’re in the area, visit the Royal Cemetery, the burial place of Mataram Kings who established their capital in Kota Gede in the 1500s. As the Cemetery is a religious place of pilgrimage, conservative clothing is required for visitors.
